Our client provides a range of social care, special education, community support and consultancy services in the North West of England. The charity is one of the North West’s largest providers of residential homes for children from short-term emergency care to long-term placements. Their fostering service provides family placements in the North West and neighbouring regions.
Joining a team of Teachers and Support Workers, the Sport and Outdoor Education Teacher will teach a range of courses (including BTEC) and programmes at their KS4 College, as well as being involved in new and exciting curriculum planning and development.
They are looking for an individual who holds a nationally recognised teaching qualification such as QTS / QTLS or equivalent and who has sound knowledge of, and practical skills in, sports and outdoor education related subjects appropriate to the age of the pupils. With excellent literacy and numeracy skills, you will be capable of planning and preparing coherent teaching programmes and lessons which ensure continuity and progression for the children’s learning whilst maintaining discipline and promotion of positive behaviour in the classroom.
With the ability to motivate and sustain the interest of all the children, you will have clear and concise communication skills and use questions designed to stimulate thinking and illicit responses from pupils of all abilities. With an understanding of the principles of different kinds of pupil assessment against national standards, you will monitor, assess and record and report on aptitudes, needs and progress of individual pupils, providing constructive feedback where required.
